While ironing yesterday, i got to thinking about how long it takes to perfect the technique, and how out of practice i was, as well as wondering how to work that into a Thankful Day post with the letter P.
It would take way too long to become perfect at ironing, and that's not exactly the skill i want to spend 10,000 hours doing, anyway. Instead, i will be thankful that on some occasions, like yesterday, i get paid to do it.
That i am thankful for prayer should be obvious, i need it like a drowning person needs a life vest.
Peas. Grandpa taught me to love green peas, and Grandma did her best to dissuade me. Grandpa won that battle.
Peanuts, peanut butter, and peaches, three more edibles i would not want to live without.
Pants, because i cannot imagine trying to do what i do in a dress, especially yesterday (the ironing was just the start), and my pocketknife that lives in the pocket of my work bag. It has saved me on many occasions.
Right now, this moment, all is at peace here. How thankful i am for the quiet time after work.
Also, for peace officers of all types and kinds. They do a lot of great things, often unrecognized and underpaid. What would we do without them, i don't want to think about that.
Music is big in our house, and i am thankful for the piano, and that i made all of the kids get lessons. They all have a greater appreciation for music because of it.
My place of birth, NOLA. There's no city quite like it, and if you are from here, even if you move, you take it with you.
The smell of peppermint, as it is so perky.
Our Post Office, because getting items in the post (other than bills, of course) is fun.
Finally no thankful list that starts with the letter P would be complete unless i mention purple, my very favorite color.
With that, i think i have rounded out to more than a dozen thankfuls, i am glad we don't really have to keep that careful of a count. No perfectionism needed!
