Yesterday, i got to visit DiDreaming in Mobile, a very good friend.
Among other things we saw as we walked through some of downtown Mobile, there is a small remnant, a pile of bricks, from the original fort built at Mobile's founding.
It seems some people didn't have as much desire to hang on to their historical buildings as others, and when the fort was no longer needed, it was mostly dismantled and the materials used for other buildings.
There now stands a replica of the original fort on that site, and as she's seen it several times, Di let me go exploring on my own.
We also also saw the downtown museum, which currently has an Egyptian mummy display, both fascinating and a bit creepy.
It was a wonderful visit, and my biggest regret is that we don't get to see each other more often, as we always have a good time and enjoy each other's company.
