Here we are at Thankful Day, and my week started quite a while back to get me here.
Yesterday, Friday, was rEcess, which is a huge thankful in and of itself.
This rEcess, though, started last rEcess when Becca had a meltdown and it took me a while to get her to come in and eat. Once she ate, she did well, but it made me realize we need a battle plan, which turned out to be three things.
First, when her helper picks her up from school, give her a snack. Getting too hungry is not good.
Second, make sure you give her the supper you promised. In this case, a local chain that specializes in chicken fingers was promised and needed to be delivered.
Third, don't let her see her parents, get the helper to drop her off to me early so she could assist with the setting up.
Of course, that meant Ms. GA would decide to go out of town for the weekend, so i'd have to go take care of her cats. Ms. G, my Wednesday lady, was also out of town and left cats to care for.
Can we say tight schedule?
It's all thankful, every single bit, partly because the Circle Seven meeting was rescheduled.
Let’s recap the week, on Sunday, we had a wonderful Reformation Day service and Sweetie and i sat with the neighbors and handed out treats. We were thankful for those things and thankful that Red-Headed Alec and his family took all the leftover candy.
Monday i got Ms. PA’s washing machine working again, just like the week before, and this time i showed the aide how to do it, too.
Tuesday went pretty well, i did Ms. RW and Ms. JAI. Ms. JAI only calls me over once a month, and mostly what she wants is for me to talk to her. Her family just don’t make time for her, and it’s sad, so i’m thankful i can.
Wednesday is when Ms. G left, so i went over to get the key before she did and then was able to go to the laundromat, always a thankful thing. We will restart the laundromat library soon.
On Thursday, Ms. SE was running like a mad lady, trying to tidy up and change the beds while we were there. It all worked out.
That led to Friday where the plan was prayer group, post office, Ms. G’s cats, clean Ms. GA’s house, go home and change, back to Ms. GA’s to feed the cats, meet up with Becca at the church, go get the food and bring it back for rEcess, and have a fun evening with everyone.
(If Circle Seven had not cancelled until next Friday, i would have had to skip go home and change, and instead had a quick shower at the church. This worked out better, and i’m very thankful everything didn’t get crammed into one day.)
It almost worked out that way. Everyone’s favorite place for chicken tenders is supposed to have a location just a few blocks from the church.
Looking online, it looks like it’s still open, but it is not. One hour until hungry people will be looking for supper and the place is closed.
No panic, at that moment Sweetie happened to call. (There is no happened, i don’t believe, it was because G-d is good.) He went to the other chicken place for his own supper, so i told him to get back in line, place an order, and run it down to us.
Here comes the cavalry, with food!
We had a wonderful rEcess night, no meltdowns, lots of fun.
Today, of course, i start all over again, and it’s part of the thankful cycle.
