Every time there was a chance to get out for the evening and leave the menfolk in charge, the homecoming was met with the wails of children and the words from adults supposedly left in charge, "Thank goodness you're back!"

Inevitably there was a mess, and often a diaper mishap.

Dishes were usually piled up, "I meant to get to those, but..."

If it had been a particularly difficult evening, even the cats were breathing a sigh of relief at the end of it.

There were two reasons to head out for an evening and leave the men in control, the first having to do with the women needing the respite.

The second was as a reminder to the men of why they needed the women, and how much.

Linking up with Denise at Girlie On The Edge Blog, where she hosts Six Sentence Stories, and the cue is Control.

While Good Fences Around the World seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird, i still enjoy looking for and posting interesting fences, so i will!

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day!  This week's image and my poem:

It's really bugging us, you see,

And on a solution we can't agree.

We have to think of something now

And come to an agreement, how?

The days are rushing by so fast,

If we don't decide, the time will go past,

We can't agree, don't know what to say,

What will we give Mom on Mother's Day!?!

(For many of us, Mother's Day is this coming Sunday.  If you don't have a gift yet, here's your reminder to get crackin'!)

Brian of Brian's Home hosts the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.   It's time to share something for which i am thankful.

This week, i'm thankful i had time to stop and get the oil changed in my car, GusGus Die Fledermaus.  Having a good car is a blessing, as is being able to maintain it well.
