Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts to encourage us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.

This month, the prompts are being provided by Charlotte/Mother Owl.

Death

Chemistry

Restaurant

Mom

Opportunity

As a MOM of grown children, you still have a lot of concern for your children.  The TRUTH is you never cease to be a parent.

It's a FACT, when something happens to upset one of your children's apple carts, you have to take that as an OPPORTUNITY to do nothing unless you are asked and let the child use it as an opportunity to grow.  Even if you think it will be the DEATH of you, keep it to yourself and let them handle business until and unless they seek advice or help.

#1 Son had knee surgery recently, i've shared it, and he's doing very well.  He was off work a week, and it was more than enough for him.  He ended up not needing physical therapy, or even using the crutches much.

While he was gone, the RESTAURANT where he works blew up.

The local power company (an AGENCY often railed at around here) was working on something up the street from the strip mall where his work is.  Somebody doesn't know how to follow the INSTRUCTION manual, obviously, and sent a power surge through the building.

The surge protector blew up, every outlet in the building blew up, the electronics in the oven controls blew up, every computer/cash register blew up -- all of it, fried to a crisp and now a useless bucket of parts.

He's ready to go back to work, and there's no work to go back to.

Sometimes you take a j-o-b because you have to, but when you have work, and you're there for years, it's not just the uniform CLOTHES and the location, it's the PEOPLE, it's the customers, it's the unique CHEMISTRY of that workplace, it's the fact that you moved to the apartment you're in because it's not far, it's knowing and liking their system, it's a big part of your life.

My PHILOSOPHY is it all happens for a reason, The A-mighty has a purpose, there's a bigger plan.  #1 Son will come to see it that way, eventually.

Meanwhile, he's waiting to see if the owners are going to try to repair and rebuild and reopen that location, or if he's going to be taking his brother up on a job offer.

(Yes, this really happened!)
