By a stroke that had to be more than just luck, several years ago i met my friend DiDreaming on a chat board, and when several of us got together in person, she and i clicked as if we'd always been friends.

She only lives about an hour drive from where we vacation, so i make sure to go see her every time i come, and we've gotten together at other times as well.

The last year has been very difficult for her; she survived inflammatory breast cancer several years ago, now she has ovarian cancer trying to kick her around, and a few months ago her youngest son died quite suddenly.

Yesterday was my visit, the day after her monthly chemo, and we got all of her laundry done, cleaned the floors, and enjoyed a charcuterie lunch together.

By the time it was time for me to go, she was not feeling well and i helped her get her hospital bag ready just in case.

My prayer is that she won't need it, but i am very concerned -- we need another stroke of that more than luck about now.

Linking up with Denise at Girlie On The Edge Blog, where she hosts Six Sentence Stories, and the cue is Stroke.

While Good Fences Around the World seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird, i still enjoy looking for and posting interesting fences, so i will!

A few fences from around here, where we vacation.

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day!  This week's image and my poem:

You never know who you will meet

on a New York subway ride.

There might even be a Sasquatch

sitting at your side.

So keep your eyes wide open,

but be polite, don't stare,

and you might be surprised

at what you see out there.
