It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.
First, a bit of "blog housekeeping."
Ms. Sandee, your site now insists on a website to allow a comment, and so i believe my comments are going straight to spam. That's what happens with most Wordpress accounts, even when i use Wordpress to comment. Just know i'm not ignoring you.
River asked about the Batik art, if everything sold and others were expressing the hope the money raised was enough. Every artwork was snapped up and the largest one was auctioned. The church made sure there was enough from the sale and donations for the orphans ministry to get their bus.
Several have asked about Carl's future. His father was a chemist with a big company, earning a very good living and he and Ms. V have a trust fund set up.
Carl has been accepted at a group home in Mississippi and they will have room for him in about a year or so. He will move there and come back for visits.
On site at the home, which is actually a campus on a large piece of land outside a small town, the residents have jobs, golf and bowling tournaments, dances and other recreation opportunities, exercise rooms and classes, spacious grounds for walking, running, or other sports, a chapel with an interdenominational service every Sunday, and residents expect to live our their natural lives there.
This way, no matter how long or short a time he has his parents in the future, he will be in a safe place and his brother will manage the trust fund to see that he can stay there.
Yesterday was Labor Day in the US, so i labored.
Carl made sure of it.
Upon arrival he was just getting out of the shower. He stopped to ask how i was doing and said what sounded like, "Grumpy."
Are you grumpy? i asked. Because i'm not.
"Oh, no," he said. "At least, I don't think so..."
At that, he started to wander off and i had to grab him back and hand him an apron. Then he went to tend to his breakfast.
My first job now when he's eating is to check his ice chest and make sure the cold vest and packs are ready.
They weren't ready, the "cupboard" (ice chest) was bare. I got it packed up.
My next job as he eats is to prepare his lunch/snack. This is most important, at least to him it is. He had a sandwich made, but had an extra slice of bread in the zip bag with it. When i asked him about it, he looked confused, so i took the extra slice out and went to the big kitchen to use it in a second sandwich for the next day.
Once he was done eating and had brushed -- twice -- he headed for the door, only to turn back and say, "Glasses?"
I grabbed a pair of sunglasses that already had a lanyard around it, his mother's attempt at helping him not lose so many pairs. So far, it hasn't made much of a dent in his rate of sunglasses loss.
Then he got to the door again, came back and said, "Deodorant?"
You're supposed to put that on after your shower and before your clothes, i told him as i handed him one of the 3 sticks, all without caps, in the cabinet.
Then, on his way out the door, i reminded him to put the deodorant on under his clothes, not on top.
Only Carl needs that reminder.
Anyway, i labored on Labor Day and this was the fruit of my labor, at least at his place (i had Ms. D and Ms. JAI, too, but that's for another time).
In honor of Carl’s many pair of sunglasses, some funnies.
Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!
