rEcess is Back! (Awww Monday), Inspiring Quote of the Week, and Poetry Monday

 ***********************************

Awww Monday is hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Join us every Monday for Awww...Mondays.  Post a picture that makes you say Awww... and that's it.

Make sure you get the code from Sandee's site, linked above, and leave a link to your post so we can visit you.  What better way to start the week than with a smile!

At rEcess, our Emmy is 15 years old.

Yes, she will grow no bigger.  She is nonverbal, wears a diaper and has a feeding tube.  She simply walks around all the time, sometimes dancing and swaying, sometimes just walking, often chewing on her large, rubbery beads she wears so she will have something to put in her mouth besides her own hands.

Last Friday, when another volunteer stepped out to go to the restroom, i took over with Emmy for a few minutes.  I greeted her with a, hello, Sweetheart, what would you like to go do right now?

For the first time of all the times i've tended her at rEcess, she reached out and took my hand.

She is nonverbal, but that doesn't mean she doesn't understand who cares about her, and it doesn't mean she doesn't care back.

Sparks is the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, who wanted us to post something positive and uplifting at the start of the week.  While she no longer blogs, i like to post an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border Charlotte/Mother Owl participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in at least once a month, too.  Anyone else is welcome to join in the fun, just let Diane know!

This week the theme is Remembering.

I remember you.

Re-member.

Make you a part of me again.

That will not change,

no matter how long

I am here without you.

Because I'm never without you.

I remember you.
