It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.
Napoleon Bonaparte's downfall was trying to fight a war on 2 fronts. Never do that, especially with Carl. And especially if there are 3 fronts instead of just two.
Carl's schedule has changed and he doesn't have to be at work quite so early during winter. This means he's just getting out of bed when i arrive, not out of the shower.
He was standing in the doorway in his jammies when i walked in and i told him to get in the shower. "Medicine," he said and wandered off toward the kitchen. Later, he was still wandering when i told him again. He was still looking for the medicine.
By the time he found the box on the kitchen counter, i'd gotten some clothes into the bathroom for him, including undies and socks.
Speaking of clothes, he's back to this.
He puts clothes out for the week , hanging them from the edge of his counter, but it does no good because he forgets they're out and pulls out something different. He came out of the shower yesterday in just the underwear i'd set out for him, shivering.
Why didn't you put the rest of the clothes on before you came out? i asked him. That's why i put them in there, i told him.
"You did?" he said, and dove back in to finish dressing.
Yes, he had to remove the underwear from the same hanger with the pants (i'd draped them on the hanger) and he still forgot the clothes were in there with him. That's why having clothes out and ready already doesn't help.
As he got ready, he turned on his music and started dancing around the room. He does love to bust a move. He'd stop and do a few pushups, or grab his kettlebell. I've learned to just keep cleaning.
"I won a tank battle yesterday!" he told me. I told him that must have been fun, and he started talking about the things that exploded. Then he told me, "And I bought cookies at the Save-On! Yum!" No matter how old he is, he's just a big kid.
He routinely loses his lunch boxes, so every time the cat shelter gets a shipment of refrigerated medicines in a small ice chest, i snag it for his lunch box before they can throw it away. It was good i'd brought one.
"Where's my foot powder spray?" he asked as i searched for lunch stuff. I found it, right where it belongs under the cabinet in the bathroom, in the area labeled "powder." Imagine that, it was put away. No wonder he couldn't find it.
I handed it to him and he sat down with it, his socks and his shoes and started to put a sock on.
Don't you want to put the powder on your feet first? i asked.
The confused look on his face was priceless. He sprayed both feet and then put on socks and shoes, by which time i'd found a sandwich in the fridge for his lunch.
This is where the war started on the first front. Grabbing his keys, wallet, and etc. to stuff in his pocket, he snagged the sandwich on the way to go get his breakfast, stopping to run outside and put it straight in the car. As i rummaged more for the lunch box, i couldn't find the sandwich.
He and i went back and forth with this, me finding things to put in the box, him taking them before they could get to the box, until i finally put a stop to it by getting it all out of the car one last time and telling him to just go have breakfast and let me pack in peace.
That's when the door war started. He kept going to the car, and leaving the door open. It was near freezing outside.
I couldn't close the door often enough or get to it fast enough.
Then he kept coming in and turning off lights behind me while i was working. Between running to shut the door and turning lights back on, it was pretty hopeless.
I didn't win the war, he just went to work when i was finally able to turn the lights on, shut the door, and not have to worry about the lunch which was packed and in the car and his responsibility now.
And guess where i found the foot spray powder?
Right where he'd never find it himself tomorrow.
Meanwhile, it'd cold around here, but we can warm up laughing with some funnies.
